Came across this online local food database through an ad in the Observer Food Monthly.
Looks like it could be a great addition – information is one of the 3 key dynamics of the spiral of empowerment (motivation and action being the others). Local Food Advisor is not the first of it’s kind – I also like bigbarn.co.uk but that site doesn’t cover Ireland.
If it’s going to be valuable in an Irish context, we need to improve the listings and other content. So if you’re a producer, retailer, butcher, restauranteur or farmers market please register and boost the number of Irish entries. Also there are currently no Irish regional recipes and only two Irish rare breeds.

Hi Ivan
This is Sarah from Local Food Advisor, I found your comment whilst on the search for blogs in the UK and Ireland for people passionate about local food and really pleased to have found your blog and it was an extra bonus that you had mentioned our site too.
Thanks for the comment will pass this onto Allan and Margaret (Husband and Wife team) who set up the site to share their passion for local food with the UK & Ireland public.
The feedback you have provided is noted the website has very recently launched (as you know from Observer advert) and Allan & Margaret are seeking out more quality local Irish producers as I type this comment.
Also whilst here thought to let you know that the site does differ from other local food listing sites because all of the producers listed on Local Food Advisor have either received awards or recommendations, see the site for details.
The basic premise of the site is simply to allow the food loving public in the UK & Ireland to have confidence in finding the very best of the best in local produce in their area.
Ivan if you do have any more feedback, please do let us know on this page (I think you may know about it already as have our badge):
http://www.localfoodadvisor.com/Newsletter.aspx
Send your comments there and you will be entered into the monthly draw, which this month you can win a free hamper of goodies from the “Oldest Sweet Shop” in Britain.
Thanks again for your support. I will be back to visit your blog and as Irish numbers increase, becoming a friend of LFA means that you will be regularly updated.
All the best
Sarah
